The CES Effect (Infographic)

Every year, we create a CES dashboard to monitor the next trends in electronics.

Since the conference is so big, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with all the hundreds of stories that are going on–even for the journalists that are there! So this year, we partnered with the ever popular French gadget blog, Journal du Geek, to help them track what stories were resonating with their audience, providing a two-way analysis between journalists and readers.

The resulting infographic sheds light on the impact an event such as CES can have on the blogosphere–from the editorial to trending topics.

Following the demise of iGoogle and Google Reader, many users were left without a home overnight. Various bloggers commented that this might signal the death of both feed readers and startpages. Considering that Netvibes has gained a record number of users last month —literally hundreds of thousands of new users(*)— this notion couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Should we have stayed there, we’d probably disappeared too.

Then, we were acquired by Dassault Systèmes, one of the largest enterprise software companies in the world. We mentioned then that they see the world exactly as we do —a common vision to help people go from being buried by data, to visualizing it and beyond— which is to say to extract actionable insights. We are Dashboard Intelligence.

The start page and Readers as we knew them may have drastically evolved, but Dashboard Intelligence has emerged. Real-time dashboards have never been more relevant. It’s not just about the apps, or the feeds, or social data. It’s about bringing it all together and automating the insights.

In a couple weeks at LeWeb, we will present our answer to the theme of the event “The Next 10 Years of The Web”. And our answer is simple. It’s about empowerment. How to Create a Brand Monitoring Dashboard

Last week, we showed you why Dashboards are better for client reporting and why they make happier clients while considerably lowering your work load. Today, let’s dive in and explore how to create a brand monitoring dashboard from scratch using Netvibes Premium.

Step 1: Create Your Corpus

Populate it with content relevant to your brand. You can either add the content sources manually or let Netvibes Premium build an “auto-library” based on keywords of your choice. This will constitute your basic Corpus or library of sources you want to monitor and analyze. Unlike other solutions, only Netvibes lets you customize your corpus for industry-specific, noise-free results you can trust.

You can be as specific as you want with the sources you want to include. Just go to Add Content (+) > Add a Feed and enter the URL of any source you would like to add. You can also add News or Social Search from the Essential Apps category or browse from our more than 500k feeds.

There’s a world of interesting open data out there—from weather trends to stock prices to world census data. All of which is potentially very interesting, but in reality, raw CSV data is often quite boring. Enter MisoData.

Today, we launched our new Open Data showcase dashboard, which you can play with here. Using our new MisoData feature, we are able to visualize that data, chart it in different ways, and even add forecasts or smooth average curves.

The best part is you can drag-and-compare anything to anything. Want to see how birthrates correlate to weather patterns? Interested if smartphone stock prices are correlated to the CPI index or affected by French politics? Just drag-and-compare!(*)
