Update: This maintenance has been postponed. We will let you know when it is rescheduled.
In order to provide you with an even better service, we’re going to patch our databases and do some maintenance work on our servers. And to do so, we will have to be momentarily offline.
On Tuesday, February 7 morning CET, Netvibes will have a scheduled maintenance that should not exceed 60 minutes. All dashboards (Free, VIP & Premium) will be unavailable during that period and no Pushmail will be sent.
Thank you for your understanding.
2017 has started off on a great foot for Netvibes! We are honored to announce today that Netvibes is a finalist for “Best Cloud Automation Solution” in the 2016-17 Cloud Awards. Although final winners will not be announced until later this month, the impressive competition from over 300 organizations around the world has made this a special honor.
For the past six years, the Cloud Awards program has been honoring and recognizing industry leaders and innovators. Finalists are chosen by a panel of international industry experts from around the globe. For the full list of finalists, visit: https://www.cloud-awards.com/2017-shortlist/.
Netvibes’ award-winning Dashboard of Things makes it simple for anyone to automate interactions between devices, apps, events and data. You create a custom Potion by picking the Trigger(s) and Action(s) you want to take place–e.g., If X and Y happen, then do Z.
Consumers can take control of their digital lives with Potions like:
- Smart smoke detector: When my Nest Protect detects smoke in my home: If the date is Aug. 13-20 (while I’m on vacation), then text my neighbor. Otherwise, text me.
- Reading list: When a new article is published with “iPhone 8” in the title, then share the link on Facebook and add the article to Pocket so I can read it later.
Companies can automate their business logic to respond immediately with Potions like:
From the entire Netvibes team, we wish you a happy and magical new year!
In 2016, Netvibes introduced many new features to the dashboard, including: Shared Libraries to organize lists of sources, a Geolocation facet so you can map where news is happening, Trend-Tracing Triggers so you can automate actions based on data trends and predictive analytics, and more.
We are excited for what’s in store this year, and we’re sure you are too. We all tend to set lofty New Year’s Resolutions, and studies say about 25% of resolutions are abandoned by the end of the first week of the year. But with your Netvibes dashboard, you don’t have to be part of the statistic! Customize existing Netvibes Potions or create your own to monitor your success, keep track of progress, and increase motivation to stick with your 2017 goals.
To get you started, here are a few ideas for Potions to keep your New Year’s Resolutions:
The What and Where Analytics apps offer several ways to represent their results, one of which is “Text cloud”. Text cloud displays the main keywords mentioned in the results. The more occurrences of a keyword, the bigger it is displayed. This view is especially convenient to spot trending topics at a glance.
However, this view may also generate some noise or display keywords you are not interested in. For instance, an overall What analysis of the New York Times’ homepage feed may show the keywords “BBC” and “Reuters” even though NYT’s sources may not be relevant to you.
That’s where the new improvements come into play. You are now able to hide the irrelevant keywords. To do so, click on the keyword you want to hide and click on the “Hide” option and “Done”. The app will automatically refresh to effectively hide the keyword and display the next keyword in line.
With Netvibes Premium for Team, a team leader creates a Master Dashboard with all the content and Social Analytics apps that are relevant to every person on his or her team. Each member – including the team leader – then retrieves a copy of that Dashboard. All the tags added to any copy are shared across the team while other actions – like adding content – are only visible on the copy. Netvibes Premium for Team allows you to collaborate without overwhelming your colleagues with information that is irrelevant to them.
The team leader can choose who is allowed to edit the Master Dashboard and who is not.
If you are allowed to edit a Master Dashboard, switching from your own copy to the Master Dashboard will soon be easier than ever: Simply log into your Netvibes account on netvibes.com and open your list of Dashboards.
Click on the “Publisher” line and you will instantly be taken to the Master Dashboard. Make all the edits you want. When you are done, click on the “Subscriber access” button located on the top left-hand corner and you will taken to your private copy.
It is that easy! You will no longer need to log into the Manager to switch back and forth between your own copy and the Master Dashboard.

Dec. 29 update:
As announced last week, we updated the font colors a few days ago. Both your unread and read items are now darker and should be more visible on all types of screen.
More tinkering is currently under development. You should soon be able to do the following:
- right-click on your articles to mark them as read
- clearly see when your apps retrieve new items
- adjust the left-hand side menu when you are reading your articles
- see all the articles in the dark unread font when you are on a public page.
Thanks again for your comments and feedbacks.
Dec. 21st update:
You spoke, we listened. In the next few days, Netvibes will update font colors on the dashboard for better contrast and visibility, so you can easily read your articles.
Thanks for your comments and feedback! Send us more suggestions for Netvibes here.
Avid readers use their Dashboard in reader view. But it does not make the app view any less worthy of a great reading experience. That’s why we just launched a major layout revamping of all Netvibes reading apps. Here is what’s new:
When you add a new reading app, it will automatically detect the best View setting, which will be one of the following:
- List. One line per article. Depending on the article’s content, you will only see of its title and the beginning of its first sentence.
- Condensed. Same as list view but in a smaller font, meaning that more content can be displayed on each line. This view is especially convenient for feeds that publish articles with lengthy titles.
- Normal. This view displays article titles along with an excerpt of their body texts and a thumbnail if at least one image is provided with the article.
- Mosaic. Every article is represented by a big thumbnail (if an image is provided) and its title.
With Netvibes Potions, you have the power to control the Internet of Things and automate your business logic to respond immediately, 24/7/365, to events and data triggers. Today we added a new ingredient to Netvibes Potions: you can now share links automatically on LinkedIn. Let’s see how it works.
As with all Netvibes Potions, you customize the trigger(s) and action(s) to do whatever you like. For example, If A or B Triggers happen, then do X and Y actions; otherwise, do Z. (To learn more about Potions, please visit our FAQ page).
Here are a few Potions you can create using the new LinkedIn action:
Netvibes Potions make it simple to take control of your digital life by automating interactions between devices, apps and data. You pick the Trigger(s) and Action(s) you want to take place, and your Potion magically obeys. Today we are adding a new Facebook ingredient to help you do even more. You can now publish content directly to Facebook Pages with Potions, making it easier for community managers to keep fans engaged. (If you’re new to Netvibes Potions, learn more on our FAQ page).
With our new Facebook Page ingredient for Potions, you can automatically publish content to any Facebook Page where you are an Administrator, using any Potion trigger. These Potions can save you time while keeping your social media presence fresh and continually updated.
Here are a few Potion examples where the Facebook Page action comes in handy:
When my company publishes a new blogpost, then automatically share the link on our Facebook Page and on Twitter.
You may have noticed that a new Ingredient appeared in the action section of your Potion wizard: we recently added support for Google Sheets.
This new Ingredient allows you to add a line to any Google Sheets document of yours in response to any Trigger.
Here are a few examples in which the Google Sheets Ingredient is called to action:
On Friday, September 30, Readability will shut down its Bookmarking service. Here’s what you should know:
All the Netvibes features based on Readability will cease to work. Our Readability Ingredient will soon be deleted from the Potion wizard and all your Potions using Readability will be turned off until you configure them with one or several available Ingredients. You can use Pocket as an alternative.
The Readability option will also be deleted from the sharing services.
