Football fans around the world (or soccer fans if you live in the US), rejoice! The 14th European Football Championship starts today! Sixteen nations will battle until the 1st of July to reach the finals in a competition held by a joint bid between Poland and Ukraine.
From June 5 to 7, Los Angeles is hosting the biggest gaming event of the year: the E3, also known as the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Like every year, publishers & developpers will reveal to the press and public all the new games and gears that will hit the store shelves in the forthcoming weeks and months. Will the Wii U steal the show? What’s cooking at Sony and Microsoft? New hardware? New gaming services? New gameplay experiences? And what are going to be the future big hits?
Until now, iPad users were automatically redirected to the mobile version of Netvibes — which works great on any mobile device. But we wanted to go a step further to offer a version specifically designed for the iPad, optimized with a smooth touch experience and even more features.
Grab your iPad, log on to www.netvibes.com and see for yourself. We made a lot of code & cosmetic improvements to allow our iPad users to enjoy the full power of our dashboards:
- Drag & drop apps or tabs easily with the touch of your finger
- Personalize your dashboard design and layouts, just like on your computer
- Follow new trends with Drag & Follow using our new Social Search app
- Switch from landscape to portrait simply by rotating your iPad
- Access all your Netvibes web apps right from your dashboard
Now you can enjoy the full Netvibes experience, right from your iPad, including the Widget view that our desktop users love so much. See all your apps, move them around, simply create the perfect dashboard for you, with the tip of your fingers. Or stick to the Reader view if your prefer to display your newsfeeds. You now have the choice!
This is just the tip of the iceberg. We are embarking on a journey to bring a unified user experience across all devices and all screen sizes — with native-like UI features. Imagine being able to access your Netvibes apps and dashboard anytime, from any device, seamlessly. Perfectly in sync. Perfectly designed.
First we promised to help you “dashboard everything” on the real-time Web and fulfilled this promise with 1-Click Dashboards and Wasabi’s 2-in-1 Smart Reader. Then we helped you “dashboard anywhere” with new mobile versions for Android, iPad and iPhone, featuring real read/unread syncing across all platforms.
Starting today, now you can “dashboard anytime” and continue to read your favorite feeds even when you’re offline. Now when you go offline, you will see a special notification that you’re in “offline mode” and you can still continue to read articles. Even better, you can organize articles and mark posts to read them later when you get back online.
The next time you go back online, your read/unread counts and Read Later lists will automatically be synced to your account and all of your other devices. This means that even if you’re in a subway under the ocean or on a plane up in the sky, you can continue to read all your feeds, and when you get back to your home or office, it will all be synced up! How cool is that?
As you know, Netvibes is not a startpage. It’s an enterprise strength real-time dashboard that’s also used by agencies, brands, governments and enterprises around the world. Our latest innovations this year enable world-class organizations to “dashboard everything, anywhere, anytime across all devices”, even while traveling in locations without Internet access. This makes sure that you can be always on, even when you’re on the go.
Let us know what you think on Twitter and Facebook!
As promised last week we have a preview of the iPad version you can now freely access. No need to leave your email address or enter a special invitation code, just grab your iPad and go to http://ipad.netvibes.com
Today, the highly anticipated Apple iPad goes on sale across Europe, Japan and Australia.
I’m happy to share with you a screenshot of our upcoming Netvibes on iPad. As you can see it below, it’s a web site designed and optimized for this device which will bring you all the features you already love on your computer today, like the smartreader view with list, expanded and mosaic layouts, read/unread status and all your favorite widgets at your fingertips.
And it’s coming up! The first beta of Netvibes on iPad should be open as early as next week!
Of course we are also working on updating the existing Wap and iPhone versions and bringing you an Android one.
