Netvibes welcome anise, the new netvibes update

Dear users,

in a few moment, we will be releasing our new update. This version was earlier released at our preview service and adds much more features. Of course we will review with you in details all these new features in our next blog post, but we can give you a quick overview of the new things.

Netvibes the "anise" version is coming

New features

Or course, the first thing you will see is the multiple page feature : full drag’n'drop, totally customizable, you can drag easily our modules and organise your pages you way. You can see unread messages in tab header and dark grey tabs will notify you that new content was retrieved since you last visit.

We also added a screen panel to let you customize Netvibes the way you want it. Just click anytime on the settings link on the top right of the screen.

  • You will be able to change the column number and hide the green page title for more screen space !
  • You can enable/disable favicons if you wish
  • You can decide to preload modules in background; so anytime you click on a tab, content is already there (you should do that if you have a powerful computer)

And wait, there’s more : the RSS Reader has been enhanced with tooltips, simply hover an item to make a preview of the content appear. Talking about feeds, loading speed have been optimized, so you should have a much faster Netvibes.

We now also support (http) authenticated feeds, so you can have acess to your private or password protected RSS/iCal feeds (please let us know if it works with your favorite applications).

Bug fixes

Finally, we have modified the JavaScript Error message. If you have one of theses messages, please report it to us with a screenshot, It will help us correct bugs faster!

Talking about bugs we have fixed a lots of things. Here is a list of them :

  • Fix odeo and other feeds
  • Podcast player works on Safari now
  • Security fixes (only list modules that belong to the user)
  • New Kelkoo icon
  • Remove many of the undefined/undefined error msgs

Don’t hesitate to send us screenshot, you browser version and issues so we can correct them quickly.

By the way, we introduced a german version of Netvibes. We are aware of all the translations available for Netvibes on the wiki and we are working on a way to integrate more languages soon.

    – maybe, I think in new tunning feats:
    * Option for no general tab option
    * When I click on the number of unread news in general tabs, read all in all feeds
    * A more designed solution for the option (new tab)
    * The feed window number of news show only the news on the feed screen, not the all news on the feed.

    Amazing! I still would love to see a ftp module. I like box.net, but since I have all of my documents/files already backed up to a server, I don’t need box.net. Box.net also doesn’t allow a person to use a backup script to backup data (a good one that is).

    Netvibes consolida los cambios que ya podíamos ver hace unos días en preview.netvibes.com. Ahora tiene pestañas (que pueden decorarse con iconos), se le puede quitar la cabecera dónde aparecía el título para ganar más superficie útil, etc.

    Great Site guys! I love the changes you’re making too.

    Two bugs I noticed:
    1. I get a javascript error when I return to my "home" tab, I think I saw one of the first guys posted had the same type of error.
    2. When you drag a module from "Add new content" to one of the tabs, you arent able to move it around once you’re inside that tab. You have to reload the page.

    Just a couple things I thought you might want to be aware of, Thanks so much for the work!

    Love it! I’m so happy to finally have tabs.

    Tooltips work in Firefox for me.

    Suggestion: Maybe this is only because I’m trying to re-arrange all my modules into new tabs, but i think it would be more useful to lock the top of the page (title and tabs) so it does NOT scroll with the rest of the page. It would make it easier to drag-and-drop modules into other tabs, and save scrolling all the way back up to switch tabs.

    Merci beaucoup for the hard work, it’s much appreciated.

    BTW- You can cross off "Multiple pages" on the sidebar.

    I cannot run the new Netvibes.

    The old version opens normally in Firefox 0.93, the new just show the message "Loading" and stops processing.

    Please, fix this! I cannot upgrade my browser at work.

    Excellent. Netvibes runs my life, litteraly. I particularly apreciate the option not to load panels in the background so I don’t hose someones RSS feed.

    BTW, if you guys havent seen, Leo Laporte has said on a couple of online shows (This Week In Tech, Command N) that his home page is Netvibes. A glowing endorsement.

    I have the same problem as 42. At work, I don’t have any control over upgrading. This is a decision of the Systems Dept. And as good as Netvibes is, they would probably consider it a low priority for the work involved :)

    I think other people are in the same position.
