Netvibes is released !
Today is the release date for the public beta version of Netvibes. The aim of it is to provide a place on the internet where you can set just the content you like, a super easy way of building your personalized homepage, available anywhere, anytime. No registration is needed, however if you want to access your page from another computer you’ll be able to do it by registering with your email address and a password. As you can see on the left there are a lot of features still in the works, but we’ve decided to put Netvibes online as it is now so you can start playing with it.
We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback about the interface : things you like, things you don’t like, things you would like to see… The development of Netvibes is user-centered so feel free to request features. We’ll certainly consider your feedback.
Netvibes is developed by a french team who are excited about what the web can be. The english language used here as well as on the interface may sometimes be a little off…feel free to correct us. Netvibes is fully localized, available for now in English and French. If you are German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese or whatever you language is and you want to see Netvibes working with those languages, just drop us an email and we’ll work together on the translation.

This is great. It lacks some nice features but they are in the left column so…
Congratulations and long life to netvibes !

Génial ! J’adore !
Excellent ! I love it !
#3 | Atiki | September 15th, 2005 at 09:44
That’s a great service, and I’m impressed by its quality. Would you be interested in integrating Atiki’s features into Netvibes ?
#4 | davaudiophile | September 15th, 2005 at 10:31
Merci !! je l’attendais avec impatience.
#5 | Banal | September 15th, 2005 at 12:22
To make my feed back easier to understand, I’ll write it in French, sorry for others :
C’est excellent !!!
Mais il y a quelques petits trucs qui manquent un peu pour que j’en fasse ma page d’accueil.
La possibilité d’ajouter des liens surtout. (à la façon exalead, ma page d’accueil actuelle)
Mais comme c’est dans la liste des développements en cours, je patiente. En tout cas, joli boulot !
#6 | MIKA | September 15th, 2005 at 12:43

#7 | Thomas NEAU | September 15th, 2005 at 12:46
ça plante quand j’essaie de me logguer…
#8 | [NETVIBES: Florent] | September 15th, 2005 at 13:37
#9 | krAsh | September 15th, 2005 at 16:19
#10 | Tobione | September 15th, 2005 at 16:28
#11 | Thomas Neau | September 15th, 2005 at 17:19
#12 | Alex | September 15th, 2005 at 17:27
#13 | krAsh | September 15th, 2005 at 17:36
#14 | Stephane Lee | September 15th, 2005 at 19:40
Superbe!
J’aimerais connaitre la "french team of excited people about what the web can be". Il faut qu’on bosse ensemble !!!
#15 | pablotossi | September 15th, 2005 at 22:26

bonjour,
merci pour votre feed back positif !
Hi,
thanks for all this feed back !
the dev to do list keeps growing, It’s like we have less than 1% made already.
#17 | Ramy | September 16th, 2005 at 07:53
This looks cool. And no login too. Wonderful. But, how will I access my netvibes desktop from another machine?
#18 | [Netvibes: Florent Fremont] | September 16th, 2005 at 08:51
Ramy, you need to sign in via the "sign in" button at the bottom right of the page. Provide an email and a password and you’re all set.
#19 | davaudiophile | September 16th, 2005 at 09:34
t’a réussi à debugger çà krAsh ?? merci
#20 | vincent | September 16th, 2005 at 11:06
#21 | [Netvibes: Florent Fremont] | September 16th, 2005 at 11:14
#22 | Nick | September 16th, 2005 at 13:52
Holy crap. It looks like you’ve released the best-looking web-based feed reader I know of. Congratulations!
#23 | clem | September 16th, 2005 at 14:48
#24 | Leandro Ardissone | September 16th, 2005 at 15:07
Excelent work!! great!
#25 | Michael Ströck | September 16th, 2005 at 16:36
Holy shit, this is good stuff. Integrate all the things in the left column plus a AJAXified POP/IMAP email reader and you have the WebOS.
#26 | herve | September 16th, 2005 at 21:29
#27 | Zołak | September 16th, 2005 at 21:33
Vydatnaja raspracoŭka! Žadaju dalejšych pośiechaŭ!
#28 | [Netvibes: Florent Fremont] | September 16th, 2005 at 21:54
#29 | hervé | September 16th, 2005 at 22:36
;o)
#30 | Laurent | September 16th, 2005 at 23:13
#31 | Russell | September 17th, 2005 at 03:14
Nice work.
#32 | Btw0 | September 17th, 2005 at 07:35
A great work, and you’d better let users be able to resize the font ASAP.
#33 | Ashish Bogawat | September 17th, 2005 at 08:20
Very very interesting. I’ve tried similar stuff by yahoo, google and microsoft before, and yet for some weird reason made this my default in under a minute! Great going guys.
And btw, I would rate the "read/unread status" feature very high in the features in the work.
#34 | davyke | September 17th, 2005 at 11:14
#35 | zagtag | September 17th, 2005 at 11:16
#36 | icebin | September 17th, 2005 at 14:32
good sites.

Beautiful!
#39 | Manjunath | September 17th, 2005 at 15:45
Thanks for the excellent service. And I already have a feature request. It will be nice if the boxes which have new posts moved automatically to the top, kind of like new stuff floating to the top and old stuff sinking to the bottom.
#40 | Gautam Gupta | September 17th, 2005 at 17:07
Excellent work.
#41 | tenhorned bushrat | September 17th, 2005 at 18:15
Great work. Only problem I’ve found so far is that you cannot add any new content. It just stays on loading… and nothing happens. oddly though if you alter the rss urls of the default content blocks they work.
#42 | tenhorned bushrat | September 17th, 2005 at 18:30
that’s in firefox 1.06 btw, IE works ok.
#43 | Rodrigo A. SEPULVEDA SCHULZ | September 17th, 2005 at 23:27
Very nice !
#44 | Marc Canter | September 17th, 2005 at 23:33

#45 | Stephen Carr | September 18th, 2005 at 00:54
Pretty similar to http://www.start.com/
#46 | Gabe | September 18th, 2005 at 01:54
Quick suggestion: remove the word "solution" from your About page. And never use it again!
#47 | Joildo Santos | September 18th, 2005 at 03:55
Excellent service. Good Work
#48 | Privacy Griper | September 18th, 2005 at 12:58
Very nice, very attractive, maybe very useful. But…
I just sent two emails:
1. At first your front page wouldn’t load for me, just sitting there "Loading". Then I guessed to turn on cookies, and it then loaded. This is IMO a mistake, people cannot even see your example. Lots of us surf with cookies off until we need them. If you feel you Must do this, at least do what many places do, "You must enable Cookies to view this site".
2. GMail? You want people’s passwords? Who Are You? What’s your GMail username and password? Your page isn’t even Secure from the most casual hackers, is it? Nice idea, though…

#50 | Eric | September 18th, 2005 at 18:42
The first thing I wanted to do was remove MSN search from search options…then again maybe it’s just me.
#51 | laslas | September 18th, 2005 at 23:05
really looking forward to exploring more of the features of netvibes!
удачи! good luck!
#52 | HYPERGURU | September 18th, 2005 at 23:41
I just like it! And since I was able to flawlessly import the OPML list of Webfeeds directly form my Feedburner account and to add the Weather forecast for Rome Italy I just prefer it over Google Personalized home page. It did not allow me to do those apparently simple things.
Thanks.
#53 | WiseCat | September 19th, 2005 at 11:09
Excellent application. Would be nice if I could add some of my bookmarks to it.
#54 | Darki | September 19th, 2005 at 19:36
Muy Bueno !! VERY FINE !! n_n
#55 | Matt | September 20th, 2005 at 01:15
Nice tool, but, I cannot seem to get my Blogs to come up. (blogger and msn spaces).
#56 | start.com | September 20th, 2005 at 01:28
Your interface looks a lot like http://www.start.com
#57 | Barkie | September 20th, 2005 at 10:46
Your guys work is amazing. I played around for five minutes and decided that you’re my new homepage!
I’ve got access to all the best search engines (might be cool to see dogpile there too), my mail and all my feeds – all on one page!
The little things like not having to log in, simple design and the ability to customize your page with such ease and no fuss (no coding required) is going to make you guys a BIG hit!
Netvibes est excellent! J’attends avec intérêt de futurs développements! Puits fait!
#58 | weldersguide | September 20th, 2005 at 12:16
incredible work. seriously wonderful… i’m looking around, though, trying to figure out how secure the gmail bit is.. i’d love to use it, but would hate to feel nervous about it.
also discovered www2.meebo.com/ tonight. these two sites together would be an absolute dream come true.
#59 | Cyloo | September 21st, 2005 at 00:13
Sorry Start.com, Netvibes is more user friendly for me than your site, but Start.com is a good site too
A+
#60 | MicheleM | September 21st, 2005 at 00:15
Very good job!
#61 | ReAct | September 21st, 2005 at 15:40
#62 | Brian | September 22nd, 2005 at 09:31
Pretty fancy stuff. I just killed off my old homepage for this. Thats saying a lot cause Ive had the old one for 2 years or more!
#63 | Andrew | September 22nd, 2005 at 12:28
I like this a lot – I was using My Yahoo but I like the idea of this better. I agree with an earlier comment, giving you my Gmail username etc. is nervous for me but I’ve done it so far and all looks good.
The only thing I need added are bookmarks, again as mentioned above. That would be the final major addition now.
#64 | ami | September 22nd, 2005 at 21:50
i´m lovin it!
great design, super functionality .. i told 200 friends about netvibes.
#65 | Bob | September 22nd, 2005 at 22:10
Is there a way to have it read a local XML file on my local computer such as C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\ENExport.xml?
When I try to add this file, The validater can not process it.
Thanks
#66 | pierre chappaz | September 23rd, 2005 at 00:26
C’est super! cf mon post sur http://www.kelblog.com
#67 | Marc | September 23rd, 2005 at 23:55
Beau boulot !
#68 | Benoit | September 24th, 2005 at 09:48
Adopté !
vraiment top,
#69 | jc morand | September 25th, 2005 at 11:50
#70 | Brice | September 26th, 2005 at 13:34
You should integrate the services of a complete online office (like ContactOffice.com).
#71 | Brice | September 26th, 2005 at 13:37
Nice copy of http://www.google.com/ig
#72 | Thomas | September 26th, 2005 at 16:03
Excellent. Much nicer than Google or Yahoo’s.
#73 | no man | September 27th, 2005 at 11:05
It is an exact copy of start.com but more stable. Layout and all. Maybe the code is the same considering both start and netvibes dont work on safari and opera.
#74 | marcus | September 29th, 2005 at 10:30
hey.
first of all, good work and a really nice and forward thinking technique of how to use the web.
i got one question: what about deep-links to content stored in a db or xml-file? are they going to work? don´t we need them anymore? is there any other solution?
cheers, m
#75 | marcus | September 29th, 2005 at 10:30
ok. three questions …
#76 | Serge Baccou, Baccou Bonneville | September 29th, 2005 at 21:36
Great job! I have written a blog note about your job.
Some ideas for new features:
– You should think of allow the sharing of a portal to others. For example, I should be able to share my portal with a URL like netvibes.com/baccoubonnev…
– You should add a content for photos.
– You should add a way to add a collection of links in the portal
– It should be possible to lock the layout when we are happy with it (of course we should be able to unlock it).
#77 | Jukka-Pekka Keisala | October 1st, 2005 at 18:32
I have switched my start page from Google Portal to Netvibes. I love Netvibes. I can’t wait upcoming features like pages and themes.
Good job guys!
#78 | Dave | October 3rd, 2005 at 16:10
I have been using google’s portal, but this has a nice feel. My only question: is there a way to save personal bookmarks? I don’t know how…
#79 | Joe | October 6th, 2005 at 03:55
This is great!! One question – I can’t edit each box using Firefox. I must use IE.
#80 | Dominique Dardel | October 22nd, 2005 at 10:12
Bien à toi, Tariq ;-}

#82 | Antoine | February 5th, 2006 at 23:35
Bravo, superbe ergonomie, l’interface est parfaitement intuitive !!
#83 | oneandhalf | June 4th, 2006 at 15:01

I love it.
#84 | Bruno | August 6th, 2006 at 08:19
Congratulations again!!!!
Web 2.0 rox,
NetVibes is my permanent homepage!!!
#85 | Giangi | October 10th, 2006 at 14:06
Bon courage !
Giangi
