Does *really* show anything, except a better tab styling. Doesn’t seem to display any new features, but I know they’ll be some good ones.

I hope they’ll be a search and an export OPML file.

  2. #2 | cc | September 30th, 2006 at 23:57

WoW! Way to go guys. Can’t wait to see it!!!

  3. #3 | trovster | September 30th, 2006 at 23:59

Hmm, OPML export is crossed out under ‘features in works’ on the right hand side of this page, but I can’t find the option, and I’ve looked around for a fair bit… anyone know where it is?

  4. #4 | Arne | October 1st, 2006 at 00:05

@trovster: it’s hidden as a submenu item at "my feeds".

  5. #5 | cool | October 1st, 2006 at 00:05

    COOOOLL !! I can’t wait to see it !!

  6. #6 | pedro leite | October 1st, 2006 at 00:05

Add content > mouse over My Feeds > Export to OPML ;)

  7. #7 | trovster | October 1st, 2006 at 00:11

@Arne, Pedro Leite. Thanks, bad usability. Very hidden :( Oh well.

  8. #8 | Jay | October 1st, 2006 at 00:38

Well the left is organised completly differently, there’s alot of search features that weren’t there before.. and it seems to be the release of the color themes too.

So yes, there are some new things shown in that screenshot ;)

  9. #9 | John | October 1st, 2006 at 00:41

    Ca promet !

  10. #10 | Michael Fagan | October 1st, 2006 at 00:47

with all the little search features, I sure hope you’re using OpenSearch :-)

  11. #11 | Bob Jones | October 1st, 2006 at 01:28

Before I start yapping and open my big gazooo – I really hope Netvibes 2.0 will work well in Opera, I don’t know if it doesn’t because of an Opera fault or not – but right now, drag and drop is tediously slow and error prone.

  12. #12 | pile0nades | October 1st, 2006 at 01:29

Very cool, love the new green colors, does that mean color theme selection? Also, is the dragging code improved? Sometimes if I drag a module too fast it stops dragging it suddenly, so I have to drag it slowly.

Also, will the video search be able to embed the video into the module? Please please please please with a cherry on top?!

  13. #13 | Pierre / Citronjaune | October 1st, 2006 at 01:32

Waw : ) On l’attendait depuis un moment cette nouvelle version : )
Vous avez une date aproximative de la sortie ?

  14. #14 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 01:46

Je sais pas si vous avez remarqué, mais maintenant il y a un blog français ;) C’est tout en haut à droite dans la partie "Language"

  15. #15 | Alex | October 1st, 2006 at 02:02

    Very soon being now?!

NetVibes already changed the way I use and view the web.

  16. #16 | Ken | October 1st, 2006 at 02:02

    Amazing! I can’t wait!

  17. #17 | ignazio | October 1st, 2006 at 02:05

Please, let me know when’s out.

  18. #18 | Chris | October 1st, 2006 at 02:05

I can’t wait, I saw a live demo from Tariq last week… It will be a big gap between the previous version.

  19. #19 | Keith Peters | October 1st, 2006 at 02:09

    Hmmm… service down for maintenance.

  20. #20 | Jeff | October 1st, 2006 at 02:12

Netvibes under maintenance right now, darn looks like I’ll have to go outside or something.

Can’t wait for the new version. I would be completely lost without my netvibes page.

  21. #21 | børge | October 1st, 2006 at 02:12

Is that a preview of the videos you search for there, or is it actually the video itself? Either way, that is very cool!

I really hope that you’ve improved the Meebo module in Cinnamon, becouse it got too much problems for me to use it right now, and I really want to use it.

Will we finally get to see my Norwegian translation that I made in the wiki many months ago now, or have you just forgot about the whole thing?

And as have been mentioned in the comments above: The export to OPML feature isn’t very userfriendly right now. I would rather have a link in the tab options to exprt that tab as an OPML. And also some way to export all the tabs as one OPML.

  22. #22 | n3tfury | October 1st, 2006 at 02:14

i’d have to agree with trovster that i don’t *see* anything as far as big changes in the example above, but i’m already extremely happy with netvibes now, and i’ve tried quite a few others only to come back.

    keep up the great work.

  23. #23 | pile0nades | October 1st, 2006 at 02:39

    ITS ON!

  24. #24 | Alex | October 1st, 2006 at 02:42

Sure, it’s on but it’s broke/affected half of the modules I use.

  25. #25 | al-x | October 1st, 2006 at 02:43

Sorry for Being a party pooper, but what about the Unicode support?
unfortunately, the Hebrew text in the rss headlines is not shown correctly as it was before the upgrade.

  26. #26 | derrick | October 1st, 2006 at 02:43

I don’t care about new color themes or search modules, I just want a setting to adjust the font size. It’s too small.

  27. #27 | Cim | October 1st, 2006 at 02:45

*drool* themes… wow. Big improvement to Netvibes there. GREAT work!

  28. #28 | Alex | October 1st, 2006 at 02:45

    And it’s fixed!

  29. #29 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 02:46

Hello, we are still working on the update, if you have any problem please send us a feedback and describe us your problem or how we can reproduce it.

Thanks a lot for your help :)

  30. #30 | matt | October 1st, 2006 at 02:48

is there ever gonna be anything where you can delete all of those things that pop up on the left when you click add content…i use about 5% of them.

  31. #31 | pile0nades | October 1st, 2006 at 02:50

And videos are embedded in the video search!! Very cool! And the settings open a pseudo-popup instead of a module! And color themes!!

    Thanks you Netvibes developers!!

  32. #32 | bryan | October 1st, 2006 at 02:59

What the heck?? A bunch of my bookmarks were deleted! I’ve looked through every one of my tags, and about 15 bookmarks have disappeared. =(

  33. #33 | pile0nades | October 1st, 2006 at 03:01

    Dugg: digg.com/design/Netvibes_…

  34. #34 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 03:05

Bryan, can you send us a feedback we will try to restore all your bookmarks.

We are sorry for this problem.

  35. #35 | sergey | October 1st, 2006 at 03:15

I want disable search results in the module …. please make this optionality !!!…

  36. #36 | jarvolt | October 1st, 2006 at 04:07

Wow, the new search is horrible, I really like the old one better.

Also, better Opera support would be nice. Otherwise, not bad.

  37. #37 | =DC= | October 1st, 2006 at 04:24

I love it! Thanks Netvibes team!

  38. #38 | Lori | October 1st, 2006 at 04:32

A few graphical changes but no real feature innovation. What’s all the buzz about?

    Lori

  39. #39 | Nikk0 | October 1st, 2006 at 04:47

I’ll have to agree with sergey and jarvolt here, the new web search module is pretty much awful — so much that I’m back using Firefox’s search bar… Why not give us back the old module’s functionality in a separate module, or at least make the new search "features" optional?

  40. #40 | atomic1fire | October 1st, 2006 at 05:12

    about time theres an update

  41. #41 | matt | October 1st, 2006 at 05:13

    where are the themes?

  42. #42 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 05:32

Matt click on "Settings" on top right of your page ;)

  43. #43 | Efe Cakarel | October 1st, 2006 at 06:42

I loved the new look and feel.. Keep it up!

  44. #44 | Jeff Staple | October 1st, 2006 at 06:46

Hey guys, great update overall. I’m really enjoying the themes, but I have a couple suggestions…

These are just minor graphical things, but I think (1) the unopened tabs should blend in with the color themes better (Like making them a darker version of the current color) rather than simply grey and (2) that the diagonal lines in the background shouldn’t faded (it makes my page look SUPER white and bare). Otherwise, great job.

  45. #45 | ejival | October 1st, 2006 at 07:44

    Muy bien Tariq, estás re-cabrón

  46. #46 | pablo | October 1st, 2006 at 07:44

i agree with the font size option.

also, the video stops playing when i switch tabs. sometimes i just want to listen to the video. can this be fixed?

thanks for the great service though.

  47. #47 | Gili | October 1st, 2006 at 07:48

    Many many new languages…
    but where is HEBREW.. ? ? ?

  48. #48 | Jean | October 1st, 2006 at 08:49

OK! Cinnamon is great. Sure it’s not complete and some features are missing! But I am so happy that netvibes exist!

However, will the theme be skinable?

It’s true that the new web search take to much space! And I’d like also to listen to the video while I am reading my others tab!

    Good luck to netvibes

  49. #49 | Escaper | October 1st, 2006 at 08:54

Jean, look at settings, at the top right next to your login name

  50. #50 | motivr | October 1st, 2006 at 08:55

Great to see massive improvements :D I like the improved search modules a lot.

  51. #51 | Mousso | October 1st, 2006 at 09:05

Excellent work, Netvibes Team. Can’t wait to see all the new functionalities.

  52. #52 | Jean | October 1st, 2006 at 09:06

Escaper thanks for your answer. I’ve seen this feature. I just want to know if users will be able to upload theme for netvibes? It would be great…

  53. #53 | dy | October 1st, 2006 at 09:13

a tons of my bookmark missed. :/

  54. #54 | from italy | October 1st, 2006 at 09:26

i can’t live without netvibes Thanx Netvibes Team

  55. #55 | Escaper | October 1st, 2006 at 09:29

I don’t think these bookmarks are deleted, there are probably problems with loading the bookmarks-module (also rss-feeds)

Try yourself with deleting that module and re-enable it, it will get stuck at loading unless reloading the full page, but that doesn’t load the bookmarks in the module, only the tags.

  56. #56 | Brice | October 1st, 2006 at 09:40

All my bookmarks have disappeared (tags still there though).

Also 100% (as in not even a single) of the RSS feed I had are broken: window empty with the "loading…" message. Manually refreshing it only leads to Update in the title bar forever.

Besides, I have a personal Module which has the same problem: works fine on load, but refresh button does nothing. I’m sure of it as I’ve added the server time in the title bar since the auto-refresh API was causing memory leaks and could not be used "in production".

While I’m at it but that’s more a request than a bug report, please add the language configuration in Meebo, it’s a pain to have to scroll each time to click the right language.

  57. #57 | Vincent | October 1st, 2006 at 10:04

    Bigup to the Netvibes team

  58. #58 | Ajay D'Souza | October 1st, 2006 at 10:33

Has the close button when viewing individual feeds disappeared?

  59. #59 | jbdayez | October 1st, 2006 at 10:38

S.O.S. ! All my bookmarks have been deleted ! Please do something !

  60. #60 | Chris | October 1st, 2006 at 11:00

So what are the new features, except for crappy search module? The only one I could find was the color theme switching.

  61. #61 | Brice | October 1st, 2006 at 11:06

Feeds not loading problem only occurs when the option to load only the active tab (no preload) is unchecked. Checking it again will kill all feeds.

  62. #62 | Fourvin | October 1st, 2006 at 11:17

Like several others above, I lost part of my bookmarks: this really hurts…

  63. #63 | Escaper | October 1st, 2006 at 11:19

They are NOT lost, there are only some problems with loading some modules.

  64. #64 | Ros | October 1st, 2006 at 11:24

Nooo, I lost most my bookmarks… and I’ve been setting it up so long :(

  65. #65 | Mathias | October 1st, 2006 at 11:27

For Opera Users: An update to the brand new 9.02 version solves the problem of slow drag and drop !

    http://www.opera.com/download/ge...

  66. #66 | Fourvin | October 1st, 2006 at 11:28

Escaper: if they are not lost, how do we retrieve them? or when will the bug be fixed?
And referring to several François’ notification: how do we make feebacks? what do you need to fix it?
    Thanks in advance

  67. #67 | Fourvin | October 1st, 2006 at 11:36

OK, I got it regarding the feedback: spotted the link at the page bottom. Nevertheless, the bookmark disappearance seems to be rather extensive. Do you need individual feedback anyway?

  68. #68 | Spyke | October 1st, 2006 at 11:51

So is the Flickr module going to be fixed anytime soon?

  69. #69 | bk | October 1st, 2006 at 12:34

love netvibes, but have to agree the new search module blows.

  70. #70 | Doug | October 1st, 2006 at 12:43

I’ve lost my bookmarks and Gmail is broken:((
    15M$ for that ??

  71. #71 | elvir | October 1st, 2006 at 12:49

new tabs are very large, and i had sth like 15 tabs, which i was using for sorting feeds on different subjects, and now that 15 tabs do not fit to one line and i have like 2 lines of tabs which sucks.
can u keep them the size they were before?
    thanks

  72. #72 | Ros | October 1st, 2006 at 12:50

    Bookmarks are back, thank You…

btw, yes, the new search isn’t the best, the previous one was better…

  73. #73 | Inbal | October 1st, 2006 at 12:50

A very nice surprise! Not such a major difference in the features, as previously said, but the difference in design is exciting enough.
Unfortunately, my Netvibes Customize background will only upload on the Classic and Blue Tonic themes; I don’t know if it can be solved through you or the module itself.
I really like the bigger, colourful feed snippets – I was hoping you’ll do that. And I definitely agree about the unused tabs needing to have some colour.

  74. #74 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 12:50

Hello, we had a small problem with the Bookmarks module. But don’t be afraid your bookmarks was not deleted they was just hidden.

The problem is now fix. If you still have a problem can please try to clear your cache and your cookies.

We are really sorry about this problem.

  75. #75 | Ros | October 1st, 2006 at 12:55

…ok, MOST bookmarks are back, just one more tag is empty

  76. #76 | Inbal | October 1st, 2006 at 13:00

Just picked up on something else, sorry… In the video search module – since the first video is automatically displayed, there’s no way of knowing what you’re watching, especially if you choose to display one video at a time. The video title should be specified at the top, with a snippet of the video description.

  77. #77 | Rno | October 1st, 2006 at 13:01

Hi, thanks for all your great work guys !

Now a small problem I would like to report: I’ve got a problem on a RSS feed with a long title. The problem is that I can’t click on the number of new items (to mark them as read) because when the mouse is over the title, options appear (Publish on netvibes, Refresh and so on). So is it possible to fix that ? The RSS feed is this one: http://www.freenews.fr/feeds/rss...

    bye

  78. #78 | Fourvin | October 1st, 2006 at 13:09

Bookmarks seems to be all back, thanks a lot for your reactivity :)

  79. #79 | Victor | October 1st, 2006 at 13:17

Rno, this problem comes from the feed title that is too long.

To avoid the problem, here is a tip : edit module, and change title (set it as "Freenews" for exemple)

Then you’ll be able to click on the number.

  80. #80 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 13:18

Ros, can you clear your cache then your cookies and try again?

  81. #81 | Spyke | October 1st, 2006 at 13:31

Flickr module is working again – thanks! :)

A suggestion for it though – could we have a parameter to specify the number of thumbnails shown please?

    Great work team!

  82. #82 | Ros | October 1st, 2006 at 13:38

François: I did and I checked using Firefox, IE and Opera. Same tag is missing all entries.

My GUESS is that it’s caused by the name of the tag. It’s "et:qw". Maybe the : character is causing some problem.

  83. #83 | Brice | October 1st, 2006 at 13:40

Bookmarks are back, yet I tried to delete my cookie as some tags where orphans (no boormarks though there should have been some).

Now I have this message in a JavaScript alert:

"Problème de chargement de données :
    status: 403/Forbidden
    /getUserData.php?nocache={a float}"

I’m stuck there on the welcome screen, no way in :(

  84. #84 | Brice | October 1st, 2006 at 13:42

Just seen Ros’ post above, my orphan bookmark was "script.aculo.us", so the dot might cause problems too.

  85. #85 | luis | October 1st, 2006 at 13:51

hello. i just wanted to say that this is a very great service. some things could be improved but for a free service it’s really very good.

_my purpose_ for an even bigger feature would be a firefox extension that puts a button on your browser that allows quick bookmarking to netvibes. i don’t know if it’s too complex to code but it would really make the netvibes service flawless since we could easily add sites that do not have RSS feeds to our bookmark and keep it all fresh online. think about it ;).

but besides our ridiculous requests, everything seems to be going great. good job!!

  86. #86 | Maurice | October 1st, 2006 at 13:54

    luis: take a look at eco.netvibes.com/tools/ ;)

  87. #87 | Raphael | October 1st, 2006 at 14:19

Since the update, netvibes does not work with konqueror and linux.

  88. #88 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 14:28

For nostagic "Classic web search" module is now available in the sidebar ;)

  89. #89 | bk | October 1st, 2006 at 14:41

    re: classic web search

    great, thanks!

  90. #90 | monser | October 1st, 2006 at 15:03

    re: classic web search

thanks!! ,are you can add to classic web search the feature to i can edit the search engines .. i want add snap to this module ..

    sorry for my English

  91. #91 | Maurice | October 1st, 2006 at 15:10

bryan, dy, Escaper, Brice, jbdayez, Ros, Fourvin:
As mentionned, your bookmarks are not lost but only hidden. This problem should fixed now. If some bookmarks are still missing, please send us a feedback message so we can double check your problem.

    sergey, jarvolt, NikkO, Chris:
The old search module is still available as “Classic Web Search”. Feel free to use the search module you prefer.

    Classic search in the sidebar

    Opera users:
Opera has released the 9.02 version of it’s browser. Netvibes (especially drag’n’drop) is working better with this new version. If possible, update your browser to fully enjoy our Cinnamon release.

  92. #92 | Maurice | October 1st, 2006 at 15:24

    Gili:
We’re working hard to bring support for more and more languages, including right-to-left ones. Meanwhile, if you’re willing to help on hebrew translation, you can join our translation network.

  93. #93 | Rno | October 1st, 2006 at 16:36

    Thanks Victor !!!!!

  94. #94 | sergey | October 1st, 2006 at 16:45

fuck!!! my bookmarks lost !!! Aaaa !!
I send feedback .. but nothing is changing … =(((

  95. #95 | Escaper | October 1st, 2006 at 16:52

If you need someone to help to translate it in dutch, I’m willing to help.
Right now, "email messages" has been translated to "boodschappen", but that sounds very odd, "berichten" is a better word for a mail message.

  96. #96 | Escaper | October 1st, 2006 at 16:53

Maybe it would also be great if we could export our bookmarks,

  97. #97 | François | October 1st, 2006 at 17:31

Sergey we are working on your feedback :)

  98. #98 | Ros | October 1st, 2006 at 17:48

François, thanks, all bookmarks are back !
    /me to loves netvibes ! =))

  100. #100 | Docgalaad | October 1st, 2006 at 18:06

A real big "thank you!" to the whole Netvibes team for their generosity in bringing back the classic web search !

I can now use both on a separate tab, the new one taken too much space on the home page.

    Thanks a ton.

  101. #101 | Jason | October 1st, 2006 at 18:24

I like your myspace modules better than actual myspace. No joke.

  102. #102 | Gab | October 1st, 2006 at 18:39

It seems since the change there is some problems with loading contents of hidden tabs. When I change into a hidden tab the first module in the upper left corner is loaded immediately and the rest takes a very long time.Is this a known bug? Otherwise great,I use netvibes every day!

  103. #103 | Raphael | October 1st, 2006 at 21:38

I’m a linux user with kubuntu, I’m using konqueror as naviguator. Since the update it just don’t load. It stay on the loading and do nothing.

  104. #104 | Shaw Bee | October 1st, 2006 at 23:39

This is the top one news at Megite Tech News.

  105. #105 | Dave | October 2nd, 2006 at 20:51

Re: 102. Yes, there is a definite problem loading content on hidden tabs. I see the same thing. Content of my tab "A" won’t load until I open that tab.

  106. #106 | JD | October 4th, 2006 at 00:51

Any idea why my netvibe page won’t load? Ever since the upgrade, the page won’t load even after a re-boot. I’m running Windows 98 but that shouldn’t make a difference right? Any ideas. oh, by the way, my page loads w/o any problems at work running Windows XP.

  107. #107 | Jean | October 11th, 2006 at 11:29

ok – now that google has integrated writely and spreedsheets … what’s going on with the writely module? it was so useful!!

  108. #108 | Calo Bob | October 19th, 2006 at 15:45

Well the left is organised completly differently, there’s alot of search features that weren’t there before.. and it seems to be the release of the color themes too.

So yes, there are some new things shown in that screenshot ;)
