Netvibes introduce custom search modules and the long awaited twitter module

We have made some significant improvement for the search modules in Netvibes, now you can fully customize your search module by adding new services.

Custom Search modules

All search modules can now show results for blogs, web pages, images, video, podcasts, products and maps.

Search all kind of content

To customize any search module, unfold the drop down menu and select “Manage search engines…”.

At the moment, you can select up to 20 search engines in a large list.

Twitter module

Tell the whole world what you’re doing by answering this question: What are you doing?. The concept of the community website twitter.com is just that simple. Let your colleagues, friends or anyone know your mood, cool links or anything that comes to mind. You can send your short message from their website, your mobile phone and now from Netvibes with the new twitter module !

To install it, simply drag’n'drop it from the sidebar to your page or use the following button:

Install Twitter on netvibes

Once the module installed, open the edit panel to enter your login/password and you’re done !

By the way, netvibes also has it’s own twitter: http://twitter.com/netvibes, so why not add netvibes as your friend ?

    Why don’t you tell us in advance for a new release ? Pageflakes always do that. And in that way, we know when to expect the changes/new options that we wait for.

    Always a lot of new cool features :)
    But, why not Wikipedia (with a lang choice) in the available search engines ? Like about 1 year ago…

    I agree with Sinisa, I like surprises from Netvibes… but I’m not a big fan of twitter. I think with this new module it’s time to test it another time. keep on bringing us surprises

    Netvibes is great, but I wondering if an update is being anticipated to load faster.
    I prefer Netvibes, but Pageflakes loads about twice as fast.

    Netvibes has become really slow on my computer. I don’t know why (I didn’t change anything). I added 8 feeds and the weather module… and now it’s really slow. I think I might switch over to Pageflakes if this doesn’t get fixed soon. What’s a start page worth if it takes 15 seconds to load?

    It’d be better all round if you’d keep us informed in advance as for new features. Just it’s good form i think. But this is not to say that i don’t like surprises, i do ;)
    In any way, i prefer Netvibes, it’s wonderful and becomes more better.

    What about supporting "OpenSearch"?
    I can think of some more search engines to add.
    Also whould it be nice to be able to reorganize and rename the "search engine tabs" having a tab named Google 3 times with a tine image for pictures video or web is a bit confussing.

    Heh I am not complaining.. I love you guys just a suggestion that I think others would appreciate as well,

    I have my own twitter, have used it once just to see what the hype was all about, and still to this day, have not used it once. I just cannot figure out what the big deal is. I’m amazed at all the collaboration with other sites they have recieved for the service they provide.

    The UWA widgets are supported on the Iphone, but it’s a particular platform and for example there is some issues with iframes and Flash is not supported.

    UWA widgets are rendered through an iframe (like in Netvibes) but the ugly scrollbars that you can see on your regular browser will be nicely handled automatically by the Iphone browser.

    You can’t edit preferences yet (it’s read only).

    when I read an actual feed item – I want to be able to go back to ‘all tabs’ – so it’s simply adding a link to m.netvibes.com/tabs on all pages – both at the top and the bottom of each page

    Could you please make thew background image ’stretch’ over the whole page. Now you get this white strip at the bottom of the website. It kinda screws up the overall look, especially with the dark theme selected.
