Introducing the Yahoo mail module

A lot of people has been waiting for this one and here it is. This module works exactly like the gmail.

As you will see, we have introduced some changes in the mail module :

The well known “edit” button of the module will let you choose a title for the mail module and the number of mails you want to display.

To use this module, you will have to open the POP3 access of your yahoo account.

Have fun and let us know the bugs you find.

PS : You can now click on the title of mail and go the the yahoo mail page.

Seems like POP3 in Yahoo is not included in Yahoo free account? Is this correct?

  3. #3 | Phil | January 2nd, 2006 at 11:11

    Yess, POP3 is not free…
    I’m so desapointed.
Anyway, great job ! Congratulations !!!

For yahoo.com email accounts, POP3 is not free.
For other Yahoo! accounts (.es, .fr, …), POP3 is free.

I have a yahoo.fr mail and it doesn’t work for me : "No infos for this account, check your Yahoo! Mail account informations and try again".
I try again but it’s always the same message.
    I’ll try again tonight.

    @ Michael
I think you must activate pop3 in your yahoo mail setting…
    for yahoo.it I needed to activate pop3 function (default = pop3 disabled)
However Yahoo Module is fantastic… is just what I needed
    Many Thanks
    Cyberlou

As cyberlou said, you have to activate the POP3 feature in your Yahoo! account in order this netvibes module to work.
For yahoo.fr users (and I think that’s the same for the others):
Your Yahoo! Mail mailbox -> Options -> Forward & POP Access

it works great with my free Yahoo account (de). This is a big progress and help. I’ve got access to the POP3 feature by allowing yahoo to send me some promotions (after completing a little survey).

  16. #16 | AstroBoy44 | January 12th, 2006 at 03:14

    Hello !
    I’ve got a bug with my module…
There is always writing Total unread : "5"
    But my 5 aren’t unread…
    It’s just my account or a bug…?

If you want to access a POP3 email on Yahoo you have to pay an upgrade. Maybe in some terminations (yahoo.de) it is free but in Yahoo.com you have to pay.

    Hi,

Looks like the login and password as passed to your server unencrypted, and that you store in your database the credentials of all your users? Wasn’t there a better way to protect personal informations from being stolen from your own servers?

  19. #19 | softeye | February 16th, 2006 at 17:58

    just to verify.
yahoo.com free acount is not supported. correct?

  20. #20 | softeye | February 16th, 2006 at 18:20

sorry, that was a very lazy question.
i realize that after reading the subject details

Is Netvibes not going to address the issue that this module does not work for the vast majority of users. I would simply like it to work the samy way the Gmail module works. (i.e. no premium services required).

  22. #22 | Bruno | August 6th, 2006 at 08:24

I am really concerned about security. Is it really safe to store my e-mail passwords in NetVibes?

It is something that I am not using yet.

  23. #23 | GaryM | August 22nd, 2006 at 22:24

Yahoo Mail not working anymore. I have premiere Yahoo mail, access it successfully from Outlook, so POP is working. All I get is:
"No infos for this account, check your Yahoo! Mail account informations and try again"

  24. #24 | François | August 22nd, 2006 at 23:14

Garry, we are very sorry about this problem and we are working very hard to find a solution. Can you send us your yahoo pop3 settings? It could be helpful for us.

  29. #29 | Neal | October 27th, 2006 at 20:52

I can connect to my yahoo account, but it’s linking to my bulk mail folder not my actual inbox. Any suggestions?

  30. #30 | 3rdOfficer | November 3rd, 2006 at 01:55

Any idea why yahoo.ca is not even listed as an option? Seems to me that all other "yahoo countries" are there ???
