Introducing the Yahoo mail module

A lot of people has been waiting for this one and here it is. This module works exactly like the gmail.

As you will see, we have introduced some changes in the mail module :

The well known “edit” button of the module will let you choose a title for the mail module and the number of mails you want to display.

To use this module, you will have to open the POP3 access of your yahoo account.

Have fun and let us know the bugs you find.

PS : You can now click on the title of mail and go the the yahoo mail page.

Seems like POP3 in Yahoo is not included in Yahoo free account? Is this correct?

    Yess, POP3 is not free…

For email accounts, POP3 is not free.
For other Yahoo! accounts (.es, .fr, …), POP3 is free.

I have a mail and it doesn’t work for me : "No infos for this account, check your Yahoo! Mail account informations and try again".
I try again but it’s always the same message.
    I’ll try again tonight.

    @ Michael
I think you must activate pop3 in your yahoo mail setting…
for I needed to activate pop3 function (default = pop3 disabled)
However Yahoo Module is fantastic… is just what I needed
    Many Thanks

As cyberlou said, you have to activate the POP3 feature in your Yahoo! account in order this netvibes module to work.
For users (and I think that’s the same for the others):
Your Yahoo! Mail mailbox -> Options -> Forward & POP Access

it works great with my free Yahoo account (de). This is a big progress and help. I’ve got access to the POP3 feature by allowing yahoo to send me some promotions (after completing a little survey).

    Hello !
    I’ve got a bug with my module…
There is always writing Total unread : "5"
    But my 5 aren’t unread…
    It’s just my account or a bug…?

If you want to access a POP3 email on Yahoo you have to pay an upgrade. Maybe in some terminations ( it is free but in you have to pay.

Looks like the login and password as passed to your server unencrypted, and that you store in your database the credentials of all your users? Wasn’t there a better way to protect personal informations from being stolen from your own servers?

just to verify. free acount is not supported. correct?

sorry, that was a very lazy question.
i realize that after reading the subject details

Is Netvibes not going to address the issue that this module does not work for the vast majority of users. I would simply like it to work the samy way the Gmail module works. (i.e. no premium services required).

  22. #22 | Bruno | August 6th, 2006 at 8:24 am

I am really concerned about security. Is it really safe to store my e-mail passwords in NetVibes?

It is something that I am not using yet.

  23. #23 | GaryM | August 22nd, 2006 at 10:24 pm

Yahoo Mail not working anymore. I have premiere Yahoo mail, access it successfully from Outlook, so POP is working. All I get is:
"No infos for this account, check your Yahoo! Mail account informations and try again"

  24. #24 | François | August 22nd, 2006 at 11:14 pm

Garry, we are very sorry about this problem and we are working very hard to find a solution. Can you send us your yahoo pop3 settings? It could be helpful for us.
