Since Netvibes launched the Dashboard of Things (DoT) earlier this year, our customers have been telling us how much they love the ability to program their own automatic interactions between apps, data, and smart devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). We’re also attracting attention in the industry. Today we are honored to announce that Netvibes has won the Appsters award for Best IoT Development 2015!
The Appsters are a prestigious, annual awards program that recognizes excellence in the apps industry. The winners in each category were decided by a global judging panel of 32 experts and honored at a special awards ceremony November 18 in London as part of the Apps World conference.
Netvibes dashboards allow you to track and analyze your most important business metrics over time. Today we are announcing a new feature for Netvibes analytics: the ‘Compare To’ tool. With just a click, you can instantly compare the charts on your dashboard to any period of time in the past.
1. Select a chart to ‘Compare To’ the past
Here’s a chart showing the number times ‘Car X’ was mentioned online in the last 30 days (Oct. 17 – Nov. 16, 2015). Let’s say we want to compare this data with the previous 30 days (Sept. 17 – Oct. 17, 2015).

Following our New Reader release, we’re happy to announce that our Apps are also getting a refresh.
As you can see in the picture above, the tools panel has been re-imagined and optimized for all platforms, including touch devices, to allow quicker access to settings and sharing. We’ve also redesigned Social Apps for our Premium subscribers, but more on this in a forthcoming post.

Good news for Premium users: we just updated our Active Blacklisting feature to make it even easier to use. Here’s a quick look at what’s new…
What is Active Blacklisting? Active Blacklisting allows you to refine your sources by filtering out data from certain domains or authors.
In its previous iteration, Blacklisting was only available through the Manager (Premium for Teams) or Account Page (Premium for One), which could turn out to be time-consuming if you had a lot of sources to blacklist. So we made it better and more accessible.
From now on, you’ll be able to blacklist articles, authors (by domain) or entire domains on your Premium Dashboard by simply clicking on the blacklist icon (the barred circle under the title of the article) in any item from any SmartFilters result.
After blacklisting, articles from this author or domain will no longer be displayed in SmartFilters, and will no more be analyzed in the Social Pack widgets. An easy way to get rid of the noise! Better sources, better results.
Try it now by logging into your Premium dashboard. And as usual, let us know what you think in the comments section or on our UserVoice page.
Edit 01/23: We’ve been carefully reviewing your feedback and decided to make some adjustments to our New Reader.
- Web Site View will now be persistent for each feed
- IE8 / Safari 5 improved support (for users of older iOS/OS X versions)
- New Pinch-to-Zoom
- Coming soon: Compact Mode (reduced line spacing) and Adaptive Width (to improve space usage on large screens)
Netvibes pioneered the personalized feed reader and dashboard, earning numerous awards from TechCrunch, TIME, PC World and others for its user-centric design. Following the closure of Google Reader and iGoogle last year, more than 500,000 new users have recently joined the millions that have already been using Netvibes to manage their daily digital lives, crawling 25 million new articles per day.
For the last months, we’ve been gathering your feedback and brainstorming on how to improve our Reader. And today, we’re happy to introduce our all-new Netvibes Reader, thoughtfully designed for optimum readability on all devices, prioritizing slow feeds you might have otherwise missed and enabling users to curate content that matters to them. Let’s take a look at what’s new and how the best reader just got better…
To allow us to upgrade our databases, we’re gonna need to roll out a Premium update and perform some maintenance.
Maintenance will take place this Tuesday, January 21st between 10AM and 12AM CET (check this time and date for your timezone).
During this operation, there will be no updates for analytics and filters and no way to use Universal Search.
Thank you for your understanding.
Like every year, Netvibes will be covering the annual CES (Consumer Electronics Show) through one of our Live Dashboards. The CES is one of the biggest gathering about technology and this year, it will take place between the 7th and 10th of January in Las Vegas.
To make sure you won’t miss a thing, Netvibes is setting up a new Live Dashboard dedicated to the event:
- news watch through the main information sites
- events schedule
- videos (live, media coverage, etc.)
- mentions on various social networks
- exhibitors panel
- and many other tools…
And like with every Live Dashboard, Netvibes will give you access to the advanced tools only available with our Premium Dashboards, like SmartFilters and Analytics. With our latest apps (like Social Search), easily keep up with all the news and announcements and don’t miss a single bit of info about CES 2014. Follow the event from your desktop, on your mobile phone or in your couch.
Check out the Live Dashboard at ces2014.netvibesbusiness.com.
To ensure an ever better service, we’re gonna need to patch our databases and do some maintenance work on our servers. And to do so, we’re gonna have to shut down Netvibes.
This maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday 12/24 morning (between 10:00am and noon CET) and should not exceed 30 minutes. All dashboards will be unavailable during that period.
Thanks for your understanding.
