10 new animated themes to personalize your page

A few months ago, we introduced a new way to personalize your page with the Theme API. This XML format allows anyone to create a theme for Netvibes. Today, we’re bringing life to these themes by supporting animated themes! With this new capability, you can now create themes that evolve with your day.

With up to 24 variations, your Netvibes page can set a different mood whether it’s the morning or the evening.

To show how cool animated themes are, we have created 10 exclusive new themes:

Caution: Applying one of these themes will replace the current theme of your private page

To check them out, simply click on “Settings” then choose “Themes”. If you want to create your own animated theme, we have a tutorial in the Developer Blog. Tell us what your think about them by leaving a comment!

These look cool, but being that I am on a slow internet connection AND an old and sluggish PC, I will probably stick with my simple template. But it’s great that there some new cool options!

Great idea, but these designs/color schemes are hard on the eyes. For someone like me who hides the page title and search bar, it would be nice if that was taken into consideration, since these new themes are too big for my header area.

What I really hope for is a theme that is classy, professional, and SUBTLE. Something that looks great without drawing attention to itself.

How does everyone have massive headers? I can only see the roof of the house on the new theme.

I’d use the 24 hour one but looks like it’s working off your time not mine

Thanks for making these cool new themes, but the seasons one seems to be out of sync with the actual season here…?

  11. #11 | Yustyn | July 30th, 2009 at 10:38

Also, it’d be great if you can sync seasons with different countries. Right now Australia is winter, but the theme shows autumn.

Fantastic new themes. I’ve experimented with netvibes in the past, and after stumbling upon an article regarding the 130+ supported search engines and these new themes I’m definitely going to give it a try. The search engine part in particular should help as I do keyword research on Gold and Gold related terms.

    Thanks!

Netvibes also needs more darker themes besides darkvibes.

Sweet! But we need a place to enter our time zone and postal code so we get the correct version based on our local time and location and not Netvibes time and location.

another vote for timezones… Looks like it is midday right now and the sun outside is barely clearing the trees. people in Hawaii must be right about completely backwards.

Looks like the themes are set to Greenwich Mean Time, since the position of the sun appears to be five hours ahead of my time zone (EDT). Is there any way to change the time setting?

  21. #22 | Yustyn | August 11th, 2009 at 15:07

The fixed bug does not apply to my time zone which is Australia. The sun is still shiny even though I am writing this message during the night time.
